About the East Idaho Youth Chorus

“Music enhances the education of our children by helping them to make connections and broadening the depth with which they think and feel. If we are to hope for a society of culturally literate people, music must be a vital part of our children’s education.”  – Yo-Yo Ma

We are a committed team of Music Educators wanting to allow the youth of Southeast Idaho to perform, grow in confidence, and have an excellent musical experience. We started the East Idaho Youth Chorus in 2024 as a way to serve the youth in our hometown. We want the same opportunities afforded to the next generation that we were blessed with when we were children, that being musical excellence, taught by caring and well-trained individuals who are passionate about the arts.

Our Story

The idea for the East Idaho Youth Chorus began in the Spring of 2024 when it was announced that one of the local Middle Schools would no longer be offering Choir due to a lack of interest and funding. Saddened by this news, Corbin and Jenna sought to bring excellent choral singing and music literacy to the youth of Southeast Idaho.

Corbin and Jenna are both dynamic choral educators with a plethora of experience working with young people. They are dedicated to the art of exceptional music-making, and both of them care deeply about the trajectory and direction of the arts in Southeast Idaho.

Jenna and Corbin met in a Choral Practicum class at BYU-Idaho in 2012 and were married later that same year. Corbin, a Washington State native, and Jenna, a Nevada native, decided to claim Idaho as home to serve as a middle ground for their two extended families. They reside in Idaho Falls with their four children, Carter, Wesley, Abigail, and Brooklyn.

They are valued members of the music and theatre community in both Idaho Falls and Rigby. Since 2014, Corbin has served as Artistic Director of the Eastern Idaho Chorale, a local adult community choir originally established in the 1960's. He served as Handbell director for the Wesley Handbell Choir for the United Methodist Church of Idaho Falls during the 2021 - 2022 season. He has also participated in productions with the Idaho Falls Opera Theatre, Idaho Falls Youth Arts Centre, and Ammon Arts Community Theatre. Both Corbin and Jenna were on the production team for the inaugural community musicals in Rigby by the R3 community theatre, and both have been musical directors in many shows with the R3 community theatre since its inception.
